Recycle your old smoke alarm or thermostat.
Thermostats and smoke or carbon monoxide alarms should be taken to a local collection point where they can be recycled in a way that protects human health and the environment.
Where we’re at now.
Nest is still growing and changing. Every day we see more that we could do, and we plan to do it. But here’s where we are now:
- We’re compliant with RoHS, an EU directive governing the use of hazardous substances, and REACH, an EU regulation governing the production and use of chemical substances.
- We require our suppliers to have an Environmental Management System that meets the standards of ISO 14001 or equivalent standards.
- We expect our suppliers to maintain safe and healthy workplaces and to implement a management system that meets the OHSAS 18001 standards or equivalent standards. Our Supplier Code of Conduct directs suppliers to minimize the impact of potential emergency situations and safety hazards by enacting safe procedures, preventative maintenance, and emergency plans and training.
Nest is a wholly owned subsidiary of Google Inc., which is, in turn, a wholly owned subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., and we have adopted Google’s Supplier Code of Conduct and participate in Google’s Anti-Modern Slavery, Responsible Supply Chain and Conflict Minerals programs.
