1st gen Nest Aware subscriptions ending

As of 13 July 2023, Nest no longer sells new subscriptions of Nest Aware (1st gen). Any subscriptions that you currently have will continue to renew.

Switch to the latest Nest Aware subscription

If you want to switch subscriptions and have video history for devices added to the Nest app after 13 July 2023, you'll need to migrate to a Google Account if you haven't already. You can cover all cameras and doorbells in your home for one low price and keep your video history. You can learn more about our latest Nest Aware subscription service, which covers all Nest products in your home for one simple price, in our Help Centre.

If you cancel your 1st gen subscription without switching to the latest Nest Aware subscription, you’ll lose access to your old video history. Be sure to save clips of any video history that you want to keep before canceling your subscription. You can get the latest Nest Aware subscription at any time.

Subscription renewals

  • If you already have a Nest Aware (1st gen) subscription, you can continue to renew it.
  • If your payment lapses, your subscription will be canceled automatically.
  • If your subscription is automatically canceled due to non-payment, you can subscribe to the latest Nest Aware subscription, which covers all cameras in your home for one low price.

How do Nest Aware subscription renewals work?

The new pricing for Nest Aware is now in effect for new subscribers. You can see the pricing when you sign up. Learn more about price changes for Nest Aware.

How renewals work

When you purchase an annual or monthly subscription, renewals occur automatically. Depending on the billing cycle that you selected, renewals occur every month or year. The credit card that you used to purchase your subscription will be billed automatically, unless your form of payment needs to be updated.

Renewal cancellations

If your credit card has expired when it’s time for a renewal, Nest will send you an email notification. From there, you’ll be able to update your payment information. If payment isn’t received after two billing attempts, your subscription will be cancelled.

If you cancel your subscription or if your subscription is automatically cancelled due to non-payment, you won’t be able to renew it. All your video history will be erased. If you want to get a subscription again, you can subscribe to the latest Nest Aware service, but any video history that was erased during cancellation cannot be recovered.

Cancel or change your Nest Aware subscriptions

How do I cancel a Nest Aware subscription?

If you want to cancel your 1st gen subscription, you can cancel through the Nest store.

Before you cancel your subscription, keep the following in mind:

  • If you cancel all your 1st gen subscriptions, you won’t be able to sign up for it again, and you’ll lose any video history that wasn’t saved to the app.
  • You can no longer add any new Nest Aware (1st gen) subscriptions, but you can switch to the latest Nest Aware subscription that covers all cameras and doorbells in your home for one simplified price. To switch subscriptions, you’ll need to migrate to a Google Account if you haven’t already.

If you purchased your subscription through one of our partners, their policies for cancelling your subscription might be different. Contact the partner directly to learn more.

How do I switch to a different Nest Aware subscription type?

As of 13 July 2023, you won't be able to switch to a different Nest Aware (1st gen) subscription type. However, you can switch to the latest version of a Nest Aware subscription. The latest version will cover an unlimited number of cameras in your home for one low price. To switch to the latest version, you'll need to migrate to a Google Account if you haven't already.

Can I move a Nest Aware subscription to a different camera that I own?

No, the subscription is tied to the camera, so you'll either need to cancel the subscription and purchase the latest Nest Aware to cover all cameras in your home under one subscription, or physically swap your cameras.
